Mimram is the son of a British chieftain who was defeated in battle, but treated kindly, by King Oswald of Northumbria. After Oswald’s death, Mimram’s father built a shrine to the Saxon king near the spot where he fell. Mimram has labored as a stonemason most of his life, but was pleased to turn his services over to God and King to expand his father’s small wooden shrine into a full-fledged Anglian abbey.
